Sunday sounds good to me! Just remember to bring your hunter orange because it is hunting season and there are people who hunt up there!

First off wanted to introduce myself and say hello. My wife and I live in Sallisaw, not to far from the Buckhorn riding area. We moved back to this area a few years ago due to my wife taking a teaching job here. We have been looking for a riding club in the area, very happy to have found this group.

So far we are finding fewer and fewer good places to ride over the years in Oklahoma. We have made many trips to Buckhorn to ride over the last year or two. It has fast become one of our favorite riding areas. The creeks are cold and the trails are fun, can't beat that combo I don't think.

Like some of you have said about the Buckhorn area, the signage is poor to say the least. It is easy to get lost without a GPS. The maps that have been made are great, but as it has been said, they are still hard to follow without proper trail markings. I have been reading some of the post on this very subject and made a note of what Thundermountainatv had to say,

"I guess really what needs to happen is for a bunch of us up here to start a club dedicated to this riding area to really get it up and running."

Thundermountainatv, if you have some free time one weekend I would like to meet with you and discuss your ideas for the Buckhorn area. It seems we are on the same page when it comes to marking and keeping the trails open. Also after having several conversations with the Rangers in the area over the last few years it seems they are willing to work with a riding group to help improve the riding area. Maybe now is the time to get the ball rolling. They have done tremendous work it seems to me over the last year with the parking area and some of the trails. That's saying something for a state or federal agency... :D

Please feel free to contact me using my e-mail address. crf250x_man@yahoo.com

I am looking to make a trip to Buckhorn area around the weekend of March 20th or 21st. Would be happy to meet anyone for a ride that can make it.

Will also be taking a trip this Sunday (March 14th) to ride the Billy Creek INT trail system. If anyone would like to meet to ride this area please just e-mail me. I have a good friend from Tulsa going with me on this ride also. The weather looks to be perfect so far. If you haven't been to this area before it is worth the trip.

Hope I get to meet some of you this coming spring. Thanks for your time and Ride safe....
